Artist Statement

J Clark (she/they) is a Columbus, Ohio transplant, now living in the redwoods of Humboldt County, California. J works mainly with photography and installations. Her art focuses largely on abandoned buildings, trains, nature, or urban life. Known to use reclaimed wood from derelict historic buildings or local redwood, she transfers her photography to wood using a gel medium process.

Prior to life in Humboldt, J was a member of CAW, an arts collective of women in Columbus. She has exhibited her work at Fort Hayes Shot Tower Gallery, 400 West Rich Promenade Gallery, the Cultural Arts Center, the Vanderelli Room, Wild Goose Creative, Columbus Metro Library’s Carnegie Gallery, Schnormeier Gallery at MVNU, and OSU’s Urban Arts Space. After moving to Humboldt, she has entered work in the Humboldt County Fair and took home ribbons in the Photography Advanced Amateur category, as well as the Open Juried Art Show.

When not creating photographic art, J creates miniatures for her business Circa + Rail. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Production from Full Sail University and freelances with other musicians.
